Tyler Warren lean against the marbled wall of the megachurch bathroom and listen to the muffled decay of american christianity. guaranteed to churn your stomach. Favorite track: The Cross and the Lynching Tree.

Jake the Human I'll be frank, this is the most disturbing thing I have ever heard. Profoundly unsettling. As one who's grown up in the church, it scares me to think how polarized we have become, and in a particularly hushed church, just what I was missing. Favorite track: Commercial.

Bradley Raley Though the overall theme of the album is contemporary, "Romans 13" is Vacation Bible School's first dreamy collection of churchwave arranged to uncover memories of Kool-Aid-stained lips and the smell of dusty pews that many of us have forgotten. Favorite track: Commercial.

about

IP-530

“In this inaugural album, Vacation Bible School introduces the genre “churchwave.” This genre uses old Christian worship music as its foundation to create the feeling of walking through an empty church lobby or recreate the nostalgia of Sunday School — while providing music to people of all faiths or none.

“Romans 13” is a look at Christianity and how contemporary, American religious experience is undergoing its own kind of ‘hauntology.’ This album is not anti-Christian, but an honest look at the religious tension felt in American society today — both the beautiful and the ugly. I hope you enjoy, and w e l c o m e  t o  c h u r c h.”
